Abstract

This review summarizes the information concerning the psychological aspects and neurobiological and neuroendocrine mechanisms of post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). The main symptoms and classification of PTSD types are stated, the basic concepts explaining neuropsychological and neurobiological features of disease development are analyzed. Neural networks associated with psychological trauma are considered in detail in the review. The presented modern data on neuro-endocrine changes in PTSD are useful for the convergence of scientific positions of specialists in the field of clinical psychology of stress and researchers of various aspects of the mechanisms of PTSD.
