Abstract

Introduction: The Torrance Test is one of the most widely used tools for creativity assessment. It allows for a comprehensive analysis of an examinee’s creative potential and is applied to a wide range of practical and research tasks. However, contemporary studies indicate a lack of data on the standardization of the Torrance test on adult samples, particularly those from various professional fields. Aims. This study aims to standardize the figural forms of the Torrance test for samples of adults from various professional fields and educational levels. Materials and methods. The study consisted of multiple sessions using the Torrance Test of Creative Thinking (Form A), with each session conducted as a single, often group-administered data collection. The sample consisted of 1,194 individuals aged 17 to 87 (468 men, 725 women). It included 859 students (aged 18–23) from various faculties (architecture, aerospace engineering, automotive engineering, energy and power engineering, journalism and psychology departments, military department, faculty of theater and arts directing, etc.), as well as 335 adults (aged 17–87) with differing educational levels (secondary or higher) and professional backgrounds (teachers, programmers, engineers, lawyers, economists, sales consultants, managers, designers, psychologists, actors, and laborers of different specialties, etc.). Results. This article presents the standardization of the figural part of the Torrance Test of Creative Thinking for adults from diverse professional and educational backgrounds. The analysis revealed differences in creativity levels among students from different faculties and professionals from various occupational fields and educational backgrounds. Conclusion. The data presented will enable a more differentiated approach to assessing adult creativity that accounts for an individual’s professional field in research and practice
