To the relationship between a subjective career and continuing education
Abstract
Introduction. For the first time in Russia, the relationship between a professional's attitude toward a subjective career and readiness for continuing education is being investigated. Therefore, a contradiction arises: on the one hand, continuing education is a prerequisite for a subjective career; on the other hand, there is no research on psychological predictors of a subjective career, which determines the relevance of the study. Aims: to identify essential and sufficient parameters for the study of a subjective career based on the analysis of existing methodological approaches, methods, and techniques of subjective career research. Theoretical basis. Theoretical foundations are the theory of contextual education (A. Verbitsky), a review of available research on a subjective career and relevant psychodiagnostic methods (Career Attitude Scale, Briscoe and Hall; TIPI Questionnaire (TIPI-RU) adapted by A. Sergeeva, B. Kirillov, A. Dzhumagulova). Results. Psychological predictors of a subjective career that are suitable and sufficient for empirical research have been identified, namely: 1) self-directed career management; 2) values-driven career management; 3) boundaryless mindset; 4) mobility preference; 5) openness to experience. Conclusion. Diagnostic methods for career choice based on a subjective type of career pattern have been proposed.
