Abstract

The article is devoted to the study of the ethnic identity of adolescents. We revealed and analyzed the adolescents’ views about ethnic identity, which based on self-descriptions (method “Who Am I?” and content analysis of essays (on the theme “My nationality”). The method of statistical calculation was used to identify the main words and expressions that used by respondents to express their attitude to their ethnic group. The respondents were Russian and Armenian adolescents aged from 12 to 15. The study was conducted at the Alma Mater school in St. Petersburg, Russia, and at the school № 121, named after E. Boyadzyan, Yerevan, Armenia. The sample of research includes 88 pupils of 7th and 8th grades.
