Abstract

Introduction. The problem of commitment to rehabilitation in disabled individuals is associated with high levels of disabled population. The main causes of disability in the Russian Federation are cardiovascular diseases, malignant neoplasms and diseases of the musculoskeletal system and connective tissue. Increased disability rates determine the importance of comprehensive rehabilitation of disabled individuals of these nosological groups. Aim: the paper aims to develop and test targeted strategies for increasing commitment to rehabilitation in disabled individuals with the most common pathologies.
Materials and methods
: the study involved 69 disabled individuals (group II/III) with the most common pathologies (48 female and 21 male patients, mean age 55 ± 12 years). Inpatient evaluation demonstrated low levels of commitment to rehabilitation (propensity to deviant behavior questionnaire) and other personal risks of maladjustment, which was an indication for socio-psychological rehabilitation. 34 patients were enrolled in the study due to the absence of cognitive impairment and readiness to complete study tasks. The control group (n = 35) with the same medical and social characteristics (diagnosis, gender, age, disability group) was formed to evaluate the effectiveness of the program. Results: a comprehensive rehabilitation program was developed and implemented within 3,5 months to increase commitment to rehabilitation in patients with respect to psychological aspects of rehabilitation and social performance of patients. Therefore, individual and group rehabilitation measures were taken aimed at changing emotional and motivational attitudes among patients. Conclusion. The results obtained demonstrate positive changes for all parameters of the questionnaire, except for professional and academic self-realization. Therefore, the rehabilitation program can be recommended for the inpatient treatment of disabled patients with the most common pathologies.
